Retirement Living in Waco, Texas

It’s Your Time

Stilwell is here to enrich lives, create a welcoming atmosphere, and to provide a remarkable second home.

We love, care and appreciate each resident at Stilwell.  We continue to fulfill the dream of our founders and work to maintain our exceptional reputation.  We care and we care enough to make Stilwell affordable for our residents.

As the only retirement facility for educators in the State of Texas, our first priority is given to retired educators.  When space permits, we welcome retirees from other professions.  Our residents come to us from all areas of Texas and beyond to make Stilwell their home.

Living At Stilwell

Here at Stilwell, we invite you to do what you want.  Relax on your own or take time to be with friends at our many on-site activities.  There’s Friday Night Bingo, educational programs, special seminars, local excursions, all manner of games, chapel services and more.  There’s no pressure, just plenty of options.

The Stilwell Residents Council is always at work planning new entertainment opportunities; festive parties, musical programs, and our famous Pancake Breakfast and Silent Auction every June. Due to COVID-19, it was canceled in 2020 and 2021. But we are already gearing up for it in June 2022.

The Stilwell library is one of our proudest achievements.  We have over a thousand books, all large print, and covering a variety of categories.  New books are frequently added to our collection.

For those without a computer, we have a computer room with high-speed Internet.  The computer room is open all the time and it’s a free service.

Like shopping?  Waco is loaded with great stores and scads of specialty shops; antiques, nick knack shops and the world famous Magnolia Market Silos.  There’s even a Target store, complete with a pharmacy and grocery area, that is right across the street from Stilwell.

While our famous Stilwell dining is the first choice of many there’s a remarkable variety of eateries in Waco.  From casual dining, to great chain restaurants and unique special haunts that local “foodies” favor, we know them all.

Would you like to host a special event? You can plan a family gathering in our Patio Room or even host a Sunday School class or bridge group.  Make your reservations and enjoy your own private event at Stilwell.

Expecting visitors?  Our special guest room for overnight stays is perfect for out of town friends and family.

Living In The Heart of Texas

Founded by the original settlers of Texas, Waco is a modern city located on Interstate 35 between Dallas and Austin.  Waco is the home of Baylor University, Dr. Pepper, and Cameron Park, one of Americas’ largest intercity parks.

The Cameron Park Zoo is a natural habitat wonder, featuring over 1,700 animals.  The famous Waco Mammoth National Monument is nearby, and of course, as is Chip and Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia Market Silos.  There are hundreds of shopping and dining choices and entertainment venues.

Waco is also home to excellent healthcare choices, anchored by Ascension Providence Hospital and Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest Hospital.

Rivers, lakes, museums and churches of every denomination are just minutes away.  Waco’s “small town” environment with  “big city” conveniences is known nationwide as one of America’s finest retirement choices.
